This week, my baby boy took his very first steps! :) — just days before turning 11 months old. Wobbly and unsure at first, but determined, he toddled forward, arms outstretched, with the biggest grin on his face.
Just a few feet away, cheering him on, stood his older brother—our lively, sweet three-year-old, who is rapidly evolving into more than just a sibling. He’s becoming a best friend. Observing their bond develop feels like experiencing a new kind of magic. The way they laugh together, crawl through the house, and share snacks (sometimes willingly!) evokes something deeply familiar—my own childhood and the sisterhood that shaped me.
Growing up, I understood the unique bond of having a sibling. My sister and I didn't always have an easy relationship—what siblings do?—but even during the tough times, love and connection were always present. We've been each other's anchors through life's changes. Then, just when I thought I understood the sibling dynamic, God blessed me with a second sister—someone who keeps me grounded and youthful, bringing joy and laughter to our family in her own special way.
It's amusing how life comes full circle. The sibling connection I grew up with now resonates in the joyful chaos of our household. Watching my boys grow up together is one of the greatest joys of my motherhood journey. Their laughter and even their arguments remind me that they are creating something enduring—something sacred.
“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” – Psalm 133:1
Observing my sons grow into each other's closest allies and friends, I perceive God’s influence in every instance—steering their paths, both physically and in their relationship. I hope they always journey through life together. I am grateful every day for the sisters who showed me how unique and invaluable the bond between siblings truly is.
